Building a Shared Regional Network for Education and Government – the West Midlands, UK

West Midlands, UK is made up of 14 councils and has a learning population of 5.5 million people, 7 universities, 40 colleges and over 2500 schools. As part of a government initiative all of these sites have been connected with a high speed broadband network. This talk will cover the political and financial arrangements that made this possible, how the network was procured and is managed, and the benefits to learners and considers how it could be replicated around Europe.
